Shashtiayamsa: (D 60)

This chart is seen for general auspicious and inauspicious indication.  This chart is very much useful in analyzing the horoscopes of twins and in Muhurtha.

Each sign of 30 degrees is divided into 60 parts of 0 degrees 30’ Minutes each. 

1.    Ignore the sign position of planet. 

2.    Multiply the degrees of the planet by 2.  

3.    Ignore the minutes. 

4.    Divide the completed degrees by  12. 

5.    Add 1 to the reminder the resultant figure counted from the sign where the planet is posited in D1 will be the sign in D 60. 

Eg:- suppose Jupiter is in Gemini at 13 deg.  23’

Multiply by 2 we get 26deg. 46’

Ignore the minutes and divide the deg. By 12.

the reminder will be 2.  add 1 to the reminder we get 3.  counting 3 from Gemini we get Leo.  So, Jupiter will be in Leo in D 60.

Maharshi Parasara has given the names of Shastiyamsas which have to be read in direct order in case of odd signs and in reverse order in case of even signs. Planets in benefit shastiyamsa produce benefic results and malefic shashtiyamsa produce malefic results.
